In Central Otago and Queenstown irrigation is very important… Why?

Because we experience one of the most extreme temperate climates in New Zealand. Water is essential at times for plants to grow and respire. It is difficult to understand why we would spend thousands on planting out our gardens and not ensure their success with precision watering methods.

It’s true though, one can hook up some 13mm to an outdoor tap and buy a cheap controller from the hardware shop for $100, only to find out that it doesn’t make a year. The other option is to move a sprinkler and hose around your lawn and achieve some pretty good results… but that takes time.

A well designed system sets you free to do other things. Buy quality, get quality. I’m happy to give free advice to those enthusiasts interested in doing their own thing.

Having a good watering system is the most important single thing to undertake before any planting. Planting can be added in stages, but your irrigation system is the main protection for your investment.
